The General Directorate of Narcotics Control said on Wednesday that six persons had been detained for attempting to smuggle about 500,000 amphetamine tablets into Saudi Arabia.
An investigation into drug smuggling and distribution networks aimed at compromising the Kingdom’s safety, according to spokesman Maj. Mohammed Al-Nujaidi, resulted in the discovery of 456,000 amphetamine pills disguised inside machinery, equipment and elevator spare parts
According to the Saudi Arabia officials, two Saudi nationals, three Egyptians, and a Syrian national were detained in Jedda and Riyadh and submitted to the Public Prosecution in the case of smuggle.
Al-Nujaidi stated that the Ministry of Interior, in conjunction with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority and all of its security sectors, continues to prevent anybody attempting to use drugs against the Kingdom and its young.
