The Chennai Super Kings, headed by Ravindra Jadeja, won their first game of the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last night at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The yellow-army had lost four consecutive games this season before eventually claiming their hard-earned victory Friday night.
This was also Jadeja’s first win as CSK captain. He was overjoyed after his team finally snapped their four-match losing streak in the present season.
Jadeja later dedicated his first victory as CSK captain to his wife during the post-match presentation.
“First of all, this is the first victory as a captain ever. I would like to dedicate it to my wife because the first victory is always special. Previous four games, we couldn’t cross the line. But as a team, we came good. “
He also lauded CSK batsmen Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa for their outstanding performance. CSK set a big goal of 216 runs for the four wickets in 20 overs, with to brilliant performances from Shivam (95) and Robin (88).
Later, RCB managed to score 193 runs in 20 overs while losing nine wickets. Jadeja took three wickets for the team throughout the encounter.
He stated, “As a batting unit, everybody did a good job. Robbie and Shivam batted brilliantly. The bowlers contributed with the ball as well. Our management don’t put pressure on me, they are relaxed, they always come to me and motivate.”
Jadeja also said how he always goes to former CSK skipper MS Dhoni if he requires any help. He said, “As a captain, I am still picking brains of the senior players. Mahi bhai is there, I always go to him and discuss. Moulding into a new role, it’ll take time to get things going.”
