 Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were not hurried about their commitment.

On Friday night, the Marry Me entertainer declared through her On the JLo pamphlet that she and Affleck are locked in.

The prospective a couple revived their sentiment last year.

This new advancement in their relationship comes 18 years after they canceled their past commitment back in January 2004.

A source tells PEOPLE they are “both excited about the commitment” and that Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, “needed to ensure this is all there is to it.”

“Their relationship is different this time since they are more seasoned, more adult and ready to manage any snags,” the source says.

“They are both treating their relationship extremely in a serious way. They need to make it work regardless of what.”

Lopez shares 14-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex Marc Anthony, and Affleck has three children with ex Jennifer Garner: Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10.

Adds the insider, “They won’t rush a wedding.

They are content being locked in until further notice and aren’t discussing any wedding subtleties yet.”

Lopez as of late let PEOPLE know what makes their association different now contrasted with 18 years prior, saying, “We’re more established now, we’re more brilliant, we have more insight, we’re at better places in our lives, we have children now, and we must be exceptionally aware of those things.”

We truly carry on with our lives in a manner we can be glad for and our children can be pleased with you,” she said.

“We’re simply working from a position of affection and regard for everybody in our lives and that is vital to us. We know what the fact of the matter is [and] we hold it holy.”
