NA session commenced to vote for Prime Minister of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly session is underway to select the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan after ousting former Prime Minister Imran Khan through a no-confidence vote in the wee hours of Sunday.

Deputy Speaker NA Qasim Suri chairs the session to elect the new prime minister.

The deputy speaker elucidates the reason for the controversial ruling he gave on April 3, 2022. He maintained that the ruling was given in light of the international conspiracy against the former government of Pakistan.

The deputy speaker then gave the floor to the former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The Leader of the House will be elected through voting that will take place in two lobbies of the NA reserved for the purpose.

After the completion of the voting process, the counting will take place followed by the announcement of the name by the Speaker.
