Bourdain’s journey from New York chef to acclaimed book to adored globe-trotting TV personality is chronicled by Neville, who also tries to shed light on the mystery surrounding his 2018 death at the age of 61.

According to CNN, the film examines Bourdain’s “passions and inner struggles and combs through his final months with deeply personal recollections from Bourdain’s friends and family.”

After the publication of his memoir “Kitchen Confidential” in 2000, which was based on his years working in New York City restaurants, Bourdain became a huge celebrity.

The film follows Bourdain’s fast metamorphosis from line cook to globetrotting explorer and television host. Hours of Bourdain’s professional archive, family images, home film, personal letters, and over 30 original interviews with people close to Bourdain during his life were all available to Neville.
