A home fire in north London has claimed the life of a lady.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said firefighters were alerted to a fire at a semi-detached property in Hillside Gardens, Edgware, at 4.43 a.m. on Saturday.
On the bottom level of the building, they discovered the woman. She was, however, pronounced dead on the spot.
The fire was tackled by 20 firemen and three fire engines from Mill Hill, Stanmore, and Harrow fire stations.
They were able to put out the fire by 5.41 a.m., less than an hour later.
The Metropolitan Police and the LFB are investigating the cause of the fire.
