11 Wounded In ‘Major Collision’ In Texas, US

After a two-vehicle collision in Austin, Texas on Friday night, eleven persons were injured, including ten Utah residents. Employees of Salt Lake-based Sorenson Communications, which offers video relay, captioning, and ASL interpreting services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, were among the ten Utahns wounded.

The personnel were in Austin for a DeafNation Expo and had congregated near a food truck when the incident occurred, according to a statement provided to the media.

Sorenson dispatched sign-language interpreters to the crash site and the hospitals where the victims were transported.

In a statement published with the press release, Sorenson CEO Jorge Rodriguez said, “We are very grieved by this awful tragedy.” “Our thoughts and prayers are with those in the Sorenson family who have been injured, as well as others who have been affected by the incident.”

Rodriguez will travel to Austin to see the injured workers.

Officials with Austin-Travis County EMS got numerous calls reporting a two-vehicle T-bone incident near 1800 Barton Springs Road at 8:20 p.m., according to FOX 7 Austin.

A car collided with a neighbouring food truck, injuring a number of people. Two of the victims were sent to a local hospital in critical condition. According to local officials, seven people were taken with non-life threatening injuries, while two others refused to be transported.

According to FOX 7, both vehicles had just one occupant, and one of the drivers was also sent to the hospital.

The Austin Police Department is still investigating the accident.
