On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Bonnie Raitt sang her new tune “Made Up Mind,” off her upcoming album Just Like That. Raitt and her band performed the bluesy, self-produced track shortly after winning the Grammy Awards in 2022.
“Made Up Mind,” which was released in February, is the first single from Raitt’s new album, which will be released on April 22 by Redwing Records (pre-save HERE). Raitt co-produced the album with mixing engineer Ryan Freeland in California last summer. Raitt is joined on her new album by bassist James “Hutch” Hutchinson, drummer Ricky Fataar, pianist and backing vocalist Glenn Patscha, and guitarist Kenny Greenberg, all of whom she has previously performed with.
“On this record, I wanted to stretch,” Raitt noted in a statement. “I always want to find songs that excite me, and what’s different this time is that I’ve tried some styles and topics I haven’t touched on before.”
Just Like That is Raitt’s first album since Dig In Deep, which she released in 2016.
The blues singer, who has won 11 Grammy Awards, was recently honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. “It was unexpected,” she remarked, “and I’m thrilled that I can do it while still working.” “It’s a wonderful gesture of acceptance, and I’m grateful.”
Raitt kicks off her Just Like That Tour this month (April) and will be joined on certain dates by Lucinda Williams and Mavis Staples. The tour’s tickets are currently on sale.
