A trapped bear that had been imprisoned in a woman’s SUV in North Carolina ended up smashing its way out through the windshield.
When Ashely McGowin of Buncombe County let her dogs out at 6:30 a.m., she realised the hazard lights on her SUV were blinking.
According to McGowin, the dogs were barking as if something had startled them, so she and her husband rushed outside to investigate, only to find a big black bear trapped inside the SUV.
As the bear blasted its way out of the truck through the windshield, McGowin recorded video.
Around midnight, neighbours heard a vehicle’s horn honking, indicating the bear had been stuck inside the vehicle for more than six hours. According to McGowin, the bear escaped with two cubs. Her insurance company judged the SUV a total loss, she added.
