Severance, Season 1 review,

Severance

Severance, Season 1 review,

Ben Stiller wouldn’t be the first name you would run to when you think of thriller. Severance, is an elective surgical procedure at Lumon Industries to separate your work memories and keep them away separately from your personal life once you clock out.

Adam Scott has lead character, he is depressed, alcoholic widow who got elected to take on the surgery to help numb the pain from the recent loss of wife Gemma. With the passage of time Mark join, he has been severed a while judging by his daily routine and physical awards on his post for achievements as a Data Refiner.

In every job, we have coworkers, and Mark’s coworkers are a cut above the rest in terms of casting. Marvel fans will definitely recognize Zach and will be blown away by his talent. Dylan’s character may at first irritate you but as the show progresses you’ll find yourself sympathizing with him in and outside the walls of Lumon Industries.

Recently in the spotlight for his portrayal of Carmine Falcone in The Batman is John Turturro as Irving, the longest-tenured “innie” as they refer to themselves, the 8-hour separation that works within the wallsNow, that’s JUST team, we meet Christopher Walken’s Burt as Head of the Optics and Design department.

Each character has given incredible scenes to operate in whether they are severed or not. In the non-severed case, we also have Mark’s sister and her husband, Jen Tullock as Devon who is currently expecting child, and Michael Chernus as her husband Ricken Hale who is a self-help author with odd traditions.

Lumon has is incredible, project of the mining and lumber company towns that have come and gone in American history. They have their own township, Kier with stores and housing all managed by the company. It will become increasingly worrying seeing how much Lumon has infiltrated the day-to-day lives of these employees. Also during a meet up, someone asks exactly what do they create? Another person said, “What don’t they make” suggesting they’re a conglomerate with hands in medical, technological, agricultural, biological, and manufacturing sectors.

So back to Data Refiners. In the MDR wing, the team gathers clusters of numbers on a screen and categorizes them in certain digital buckets based on their interpretation and the emotional connection to what they are seeing on the screen.

Numbers should not scary right? But what do they mean? We still don’t know. The answers in this show is what kept me coming back for more.
