Trump Organization filed lawsuit against New York City for ending golf course deal

WASHINGTON, June 21 – Donald Trump’s firm claimed in court on Monday that the city of New York had severed connections with the Trump Organization after supporters stormed the Capitol in January.

The case claims that the contract was wrongfully cancelled by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration, which was filed in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan.

Since its opening in 2015, the Trump Organization has administered the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx borough.

“De Blasio had a had a pre-existing, politically-based predisposition to terminate Trump-related contracts, and the City used the events of January 6, 2021 as a pretext to do so,” according to the lawsuit.

A request for comment from New York City was not immediately returned.

On Jan. 6, hundreds of Trump supporters descended on the Capitol, disrupting the formal legislative certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral victory. Following a furious rally to his supporters, Trump continued to make baseless accusations about a rigged election. As a result, the rampage began.

Following the Capitol violence, Trump and his firm received a lot of negative attention. Because of the negative publicity, the city claimed it was doubtful that Trump would be able to attract professional golf tournaments to the golf course.

The Trump Organization claims that it was not required under the deal to attract tournaments.

The city also terminated contracts with the Trump Organization to operate two ice rinks and a carousel in Central Park following the attack on the Capitol.
