Samsung is looking about putting more effort into improving the performance of its own chips. The South Korean company is working to improve the performance of its Exynos processors. Samsung switched to ARM’s design for its Mongoose cores two years ago. The Exynos 2200, the company’s current flagship chip, includes a GPU developed in partnership with AMD.
According to details, now Samsung is planning to develop chipsets exclusively for its smartphones. The report also explains that Samsung’s System LSI division, which develops the chips, does not have a close relationship with Samsung’s mobile unit, known as MX or Mobile eXperience.
Both the units of the company have a mere buyer-seller relationship which means Samsung’’s MX is just another customer for the LSI division. Moreover, the company’s chip-making division doesn’t develop processors just for Samsung phones but also has other clients like Vivo.

Samsung’s MX Head TM Roh has recently said that the company will now make processors specifically designed for Galaxy phones. Reports suggest that this plan was revealed at a town hall meeting when an employee asked for a solution to resolve the game optimizing service (GOS) controversy.
The GOS app comes pre-installed on most Samsung phones, and it’s supposed to keep the handsets from overheating by reducing performance. Customers have recently chastised the corporation for not allowing them to discontinue the service. Samsung ultimately released an update to fix the problem, but the whole ordeal may have harmed demand for the Galaxy S22.
The top model of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones that shipped with Exynos chipsets, also suffered from the same GOS issue. However, the handsets that were powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors didn’t face any such issue.
Samsung may now plan to follow Apple’s lead in dealing with all of this. Instead than thinking about selling chips to other companies, Samsung is more likely to concentrate on building processors that will only be used in Galaxy phones. Samsung may possibly partner with Qualcomm or MediaTek to build these new CPUs, although no official confirmation has been given.
