The Orthodox Church has lauded an RUSSIAN commander known as the “Butcher of Bucha” after he oversaw the rape and murder of innocent Ukrainians.
Lieutenant Colonel Azatbek Omurbekov has been recognised and humiliated for his forces’ “utterly horrible” behaviour during the city’s occupation.
He is the commander of the 64th Separate Motorised Rifle Brigade, which retreated leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake.
As survivors experience unimaginable pain, the community on the outskirts of the city is now strewn with mass graves and corpses decaying in the street.
After his identify was revealed online, the focus has shifted to the leader of the brutal pack, Omurbekov.
The “Butcher of Bucha,” who is said to be in his forties, is now accused of ordering the heinous rape and massacre of hundreds of Ukrainians.
InformNapalm, a Ukrainian volunteer project that monitors Russian military and special services activity, determined he is a seasoned veteran and leader of unit 51460.
In November, an Orthodox priest blessed Omurbekov, whose regiment is headquartered in a town outside Khabarovsk in Russia’s Far East.
The Bishop of Khabarovsk performed a ceremony for the warmonger before his deployment to Ukraine to perpetrate horrors on innocent people.
“History demonstrates that we fight most of our wars with our souls,” the commander added after the event.
“The most essential thing is not to have weapons. The church is a location where we can take communion and prepare for the events that are to come.
“With the Almighty’s favour, we aim to do the same achievements that our forefathers did.”
Dmitry Bulgakov, Russia’s deputy defence minister, awarded Omurbekov a medal for meritorious service in 2014.
The Butcher is currently the focus of an investigation involving the rape, plunder, and murder of hundreds of Ukrainians.
According to international law, a military commander is liable for any war crimes committed by his forces.
“In Bucha, there was a military unit 51460 from the hamlet of Knyaze-Volkonskoye, Khabarovsk area,” stated volunteer group Tretya Sila.
“All of these murders, rapists, and looters will soon be identified by name.”
