A drone video shows a Russian tank ‘firing on a bicycle’ in Bucharest

A drone caught the moment Russian tanks appeared to open fire on a bicycle in the town of Bucha, perhaps providing additional evidence of war crimes committed by Vladimir Putin’s soldiers in Ukraine.

Footage from the raid in Kyiv Oblast town shows a guy riding his bicycle along a street, seemingly oblivious that six Russian tanks were waiting around the bend.

Another video supposedly depicted the aftermath of the strike following Bucha’s liberation from Moscow’s grip in recent days. In it, a guy who is thought to be the same man is spotted dead by the side of the road next to his bicycle.

The drone appears to be following the Russian tank column in the first video, which was shot on March 3, but the tape also follows a guy as he walks along a road that goes through a neighbourhood of wrecked or damaged buildings.

The drone operator looks upwards repeatedly, revealing a lengthy line of military equipment, including tanks, armoured personnel carriers, and trucks, positioned between buildings on the next street across from the man.

The drone focuses more on the cyclist’s journey along the street as he proceeds down the street, first on his bicycle and then on foot, pulling it alongside him.

He is shown approaching a road intersection and turning left along a smaller street, where an armoured vehicle and a tank are positioned around 150 feet away.

As soon as he turns the bend into the side road, the armoured vehicle’s turret flashes, and a rocket is seen hurtling into the air.

The footage shows the armoured vehicle opening fire and firing several more bullets in the direction of the man’s entry into the side lane.

After many bursts, the camera zooms in, and a greater flare is visible as the tank, which is parallel to the armoured vehicle, shoots in the direction of the guy.

The man’s vision had been hampered by a tree and some fence by this point in the video, when he turned the bend.

However, another video filmed on the street and uploaded by the investigative firm Bellingcat some time later allegedly showed the same crossroads following the incident. A man, thought to be the same as in the previous video, is shown dead, slumped by the side of the road with his bicycle.

The bike appeared to slow down as he approached the intersection. It’s unclear if he knew where the Russian cars were when he turned the corner. Almost immediately, the Russian truck opened fire on him.

Ukraine’s soldiers have just re-entered Bucha and other towns in the surrounding area after forcing Russia’s forces back, away from Kyiv’s capital.
