The Nizam of Hyderabad necklace is the most valuable piece in Her Majesty’s collection. According to analysts at jewellery box, this is worth a stunning £66.3 million. The necklace was a wedding gift from the Nizam of Hyderabad to the Queen (then Princess Elizabeth) in 1947.
Nizam, who was immensely affluent, told Cartier to let her choose whatever she desired.
The necklace and a floral tiara with removable components that could be used as brooches were given to Elizabeth.
Since becoming a member of the Royal Family, Kate Middleton has worn the necklace.
Kate’s jewellery selections, notably when she wore this necklace, were discussed by Charlotte White, head of design at 77 Diamonds, Europe’s largest online diamond jeweller.
She said: “Kate’s jewellery style choices are largely acknowledged to be impeccable and they have attracted legions of fans.
“She has certainly donned some of the most prized, rare and valuable jewels in the world in her time.”
But what are Kate’s favourite jewels?
Charlotte continued: “Kate has a definite affinity for natural diamonds.
