Indian extremists set houses of Muslims on fire in Rajasthan

In the Indian state of Rajasthan, Extremists set fire to Muslims’ homes and other valuables.

Anti-Muslim violence erupted as Hindu groups rode their bikes through a Muslim neighbourhood in Karauli city in the guise of celebrating the Hindu New Year and shouted inflammatory chants. During the rally, speakers sang Hindutva songs urging violence against Muslims.

The rally’s members threw stones at Muslim homes and set fire to their stores and vehicles as they passed through a Muslim-dominated neighbourhood.

According to the police, the conflicts have resulted in the injuries of up to 35 persons. The area’s mobile internet service was still down.

Authorities announced a curfew in the neighbourhood from 6:30 p.m. on April 2 to 12 a.m. on April 4 after multiple stores and cars were set on fire. Internet access was also turned off. Following the event, the Rajasthan police arrested 46 persons and held seven others for questioning.
