Lady Gaga was moved to tears after paying a moving homage to Tony Bennett, a longtime friend and Grammy legend.
Gaga performed a rendition of “Do I Love You” and “Love For Sale” after being introduced by Bennett in a pre-taped video at the 2022 Grammys on Sunday.
Following her emotional performance, which included a video montage of the two, Gaga sat on the stage’s edge and cried, her hand on her shoulder in place of Bennett’s.
Bennett is the second-oldest Grammy winner with his album “Love for Sale,” which is nominated for Album of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group, and already won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
In 2021, the 95-year-old superstar announced his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and announced his retirement from performance a few months later.

Bennett has a long relationship with the Grammy Awards, having won a total of 20 Grammys and being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
“When jazz begins, this man lights up in a way that is such magic,” Gaga told Billboard last year, holding back tears as she explained how music may aid patients with Alzheimer’s disease, which affects memory and eventually motor functions. “Music is magic. Music is a miracle.”
Last October, the “Chromatica” singer and music veteran performed together in New York City at One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.
“Cheek to Cheek,” their debut album together, was nominated for a Grammy in 2015 for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
