Olympian Nicola Adams, 39, and her girlfriend had reveal their baby’s gender on Instagram with a photo their baby scan. Nicola told opened up that their fourth IVF round saw they fall pregnant.
The couple opened up about their baby’s gender reveal, which saw them ride of the traditional pink or blue colors. The reveal involved a pink and blue canvas – which was peeled back to instead reveal the words: “It’s a boy!”
Ella explained: “Being part of the LGBTQ community, I am aware of the issues surrounding gender reveals, as they often reinforce gender stereotypes.
“I thought this was a good opportunity to bring awareness to the difference between sex and gender and make it less stereotypical. We started off with the pink and blue, then got rid of it.”
“I’m excited, happy, and nervous and just wondering what to expect,” Nicola said of her unborn son. “All my friends have boys, so I was like: ‘Yes!’ when I found out.
“It feels really good to finally have a baby on the way. All the ups and downs were worth it in the end.”
The Olympian stated how they had been trying for three years, using her frozen eggs.
