Nicola Adams and her model girlfriend Ella Baig have announced the birth of a son.

The boxer, 39, disclosed in February that Ella, 24, is pregnant with their first child, saying she is “happy” and “nervous” about becoming a mother following the gender reveal.

After starting their fertility journey in 2019, the couple named their baby boy “fighter,” and after four rounds of IVF, Ella became pregnant with Nicola’s egg and a sperm donor.

Nicola, a Strictly Come Dancing judge, told Hello! Magazine: “It’s fantastic. I’m excited, pleased, frightened, and unsure of what to anticipate. It is great to finally have a child on the way. In the end, all of the ups and downs were worthwhile.”

Ella miscarried during the couple’s first round of IVF therapy because she inadvertently had an underactive thyroid, which may “dramatically impair” a healthy pregnancy, according to the couple.

The model, who flaunted her growing baby bulge in a romantic picture, told the publication: “I believe it is reasonable to say that the kid is a fighter; it is certainly an active baby. I started feeling kicks at 17 weeks and everytime we went for a scan, I had no idea what it was doing, maybe backflips.”

Ella expressed her hope that being pregnant with their baby may help other couples who are having difficulty conceiving.

The pair peeled down vinyl letters to reveal the words “It’s a boy!” before revealing the gender on a blue and pink paint splashed canvas.

Ella explained that she chose to remove the pink and blue paint to reveal the black as a symbolic method to “raise notice to the distinction between sex and gender and make it less stereotyped.”

The model believed it was vital to be a part of the LGBTQ community in order to avoid traditional gender reveals, which she claims “frequently perpetuate gender preconceptions.”

In February, the couple announced their pregnancy in a joint post, accompanied with a photo of them and an ultrasound image.

They announced the news as follows: “We’re thrilled to announce that our family is growing. We can finally declare we’re going to be parents after what seems like an eternity!”
