NA dissolution crisis: Supreme Court adjourns hearing of suo motu notice till tomorrow

The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of suo motu notice till tomorrow (Monday) and issued to the notices to Attorney General for Pakistan and secretaries of Interior and Defence and other petitioners.

The SC has also directed all political parties and authorities concerned to maintain law and order situation.

Earlier, a three-member larger bench of the apex court has been constituted.

Bol News reported that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial and reached the court on holiday after consultation with other judges of the apex court.

Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) have also announced that they would file a petition against the government’s move in the top court.

Talking to the media, PPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bukhari had said the unconstitutional step by the government would be challenged in the court.

In a move by Prime Minister Imran Khan against which the opposition seemed off the guard, he advised President Arif Alvi to dissolve NA which has been approved.

He revealed the ‘surprise’, that he was talking about ahead of the day of voting on the no-confidence motion against him, in a brief public address after the NA deputy speaker termed the move ‘unconstitutional’.

Earlier, former information and law minister Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will continue his duties under Article 224 of the constitution. However, the federal cabinet has been dissolved.
