She used to carry a bookbag on her shoulder, but now she carries a missile launcher.

In the week since she left university to join the war effort, the Ukrainian has shot down two Russian planes and a helicopter.

According to sources, the lady has become an adept at shooting the Russian-made Igla surface-to-air missile launcher.

Her identity is being kept hidden for fear of being assassinated by Russian operatives.

So far, at least 30 Russian aircraft are thought to have been destroyed in the fight.

A source said: “The Ukrainians have had a lot of success with surface-to-air missiles.

“The young student who has shot down three aircraft is one of the reasons why Russia does not control the air.”

Meanwhile, Russia has pledged to target high-precision defence weaponry being provided to Ukraine by Britain, arguing that they have only exacerbated the suffering.

Putin’s UK envoy, Andrey Kelin, issued the warning in response to claims that a Russian helicopter had been shot down by a portable high-velocity anti-air missile called Starstreak given by the UK.
