The Undertaker is arguably the greatest star to ever step foot in the squared circle. His career spanned over 4 decades and he finally got his much deserved ‘Hall of Fame’ induction. In his farewell speech, he thanked friends, family, co-workers and fans. Towards the end of his speech, he put on his iconic trenchcoat and hat. He then tilted his head lower and said “Never…say…never” as he walked out of the ring.
He didn’t rule out any return in any capacity in near future, but that doesn’t mean that he is not retired from wrestling. We may see him in some other role from time to time.
During his speech, he thanked some of his biggest opponents, including Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Talking about Shawn and their classic bout at WrestleMania 25, he said “There we are, HBK. The showstopper. Mr. WrestleMania Shawn Michaels versus The Phenom, The Undertaker, and his undefeated streak.”
He further added “We ended up leaving it all in the ring that night. Shawn, I thank you for your friendship and for giving me one of the very best matches of my career. This experience highlighted my third mental move that I try and live by every day. Never be content”
He thanked Triple H and said, “It was always such a pleasure to share the ring with you. It was effortless and our chemistry was undeniable. We’ve been great friends inside the ring and out, but I want to thank you for reminding me at a time when my confidence was lost of who I really am.”
While thanking the fans for their outpouring love and support throughout those years, Undertaker said, “My first thank you is to you. You were the motivation I needed many nights. Whether I was in the ring or outside, my actions matter.”
He ended his speech with his iconic catchphrase, he said, now the “Undertaker can REST INP PEACE”
