Prime minister being replaced democratically, says Sindh CM

KARACHI: Asking the ruling party to deal with the no-confidence motion constitutionally, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Saturday said the prime minister was being replaced democratically, because it created crisis if they went against the constitution and law.

“The country cannot bear more crises. Imran Khan’s game is over. The PM should find among his own people as to who brought him to this point,” Murad Ali Shah said in a statement in Karachi.

He said President Arif Alvi would have to convene a meeting after success of the no-trust voting. The prime minister has lost his majority support and more than 172 people would endorse the no-trust motion on April 3, he added.

On Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s seeking help from the military establishment in political matters, the Sindh CM the federal minister was inviting the establishment to intervene. He warned that nobody should play with the country and constitution. Voting would take place on April 3 and PM Imran himself had said that, he said.

“The government is now thinking how to postpone the NA session. It is trying to violate the constitution. The constitution and national security should be our priority,” he said.

Sheikh Rashid on Saturday urged the establishment to intervene and call for early elections as the country was heading towards anarchy.

Addressing a press conference, the interior minister said establishment’s intervention was required to avoid any clash in the county.

He said, “There are only four options left including holding of early general elections, collective resignations of all MNAs of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), banning all opposition parties and registering cases under treason charges for their involvement in conspiracy against the PTI government.”
