Fawad directs formation of commission to probe into regime change plot

Ahead of the no-trust vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, who also holds the additional charge of Law Minister, on Saturday directed to constitute a commission regarding alleged international conspiracy against the incumbent government.

The commission will review various matters, including the foreign plot for regime change in Pakistan and the no-confidence motion.

The commission will prepare its report following an investigation into the matter.

The minister also issued orders for the change of dozens of legal officers in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.

All the officers in the Ministry of Law and Justice have been directed to perform their duties in a better manner.

On Friday, Fawad Chaudhry announced that he would assume the charge as the new law minister following MQM-P’s Farogh Naseem resignation after his party parted ways with the PTI government.

He had disclosed that his first step would be to ask the courts to suspend bails of Shehbaz Sharif and Humza Shehbaz, who are most likely to be prime minister and Punjab chief minister respectively, in money laundering case.

As per the latest reports, a local court had refused to dismiss bails of both leaders on the application of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and summoned suspects’ lawyers on April 4.
