PESHAWAR: Meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held in Peshawar Saturday evening (today) for sighting of Ramadan 1443 AH moon.
Chairman of the Committee Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad will preside the meeting.
The zonal committees will also hold the meetings at their respective headquarters across the country.
The meteorological department has predicted that moon of Ramadan ul Mubarak might be sighted today in Pakistan.

“There are chances of sighting of Ramadan moon today in the country. If it happens, then first Ramadan will fall on April 3 (Sunday),” said the meteorological department adding that Sha’ban (the ongoing month) will have 29 days this year.
A zonal committee will hold its meeting at the Met Dept in Karachi. The zonal committee meeting in Karachi will be presided over by Maulana Muhammed Salfi.
The meteorological department said sunset in Karachi will take place at 6:49 pm on April 2 and moon will remain on the horizon till 7:57 pm. Age of the moon at the sunset today will be 31 hours and 48 minutes, it added.
The moon of Ramadan has been sighted in Saudi Arabia on Friday and the first fast is being observed on Saturday (today).
