Spotify is working on a new feature to discover podcasts easily. This new ‘audio newsfeed’ feature is inspired from TikTok and will provide it’s users a vertical feed that will feature 1-minute long clips from podcasts on the app. Spotify is currently rolling this feature out for a small number of users, who will get a ‘Podcasts’ button in Spotify app to scroll through the feed.

Spotify has apparently affirmed about the utilisation of Podz’s technology but it’s future is still in the air, nothing can be said for sure if they are planning a wider release of this podcast feature.

Chris Messina, who is Product designer, posted a test video of this new feature on his Twitter. The video showcases ‘Podcasts’ button in the Spotify app that allows users to scroll through the vertical feed. The feed is populated by clips from podcasts that the users might enjoy with the layout including the cover art of the associated podcast clip. The clip gets transcribed as it is played with the words being highlighted as they are spoken. The user can press the play button if they want to continue listening to the podcast beyond the clip. There is also a ‘+’ button for adding the episode to ‘Your Episodes’ lists. It should be noted that the new feed may undergo several changes before the final build is released.
