Serena Williams was taken aback when Will Smith struck Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars 2022.
The star tennis player took to Instagram to respond to the unexpected on-stage incident on Sunday night.
She said, “I just sat down ‘cus I was like I gotta put that drink down.”
It should be noted that Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face on stage at the Oscars 2022 after the comedian made a joke about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
He stepped up on stage and smacked Chris Rock and said, “keep my wife’s name out your [expletive] mouth.”
Following the incident, the King Richard star apologised during his Oscar winning speech.
“I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people,” he said.
