Actor Will Smith punches Chris Rock at Oscar 2022, Twitter lashes out at the wrong Will Smith

After the Oscar 2022 disaster, enraged fans turned to Twitter to air their complaints, but it seems out they were tagging the wrong Will Smith all along.

At the Oscars this year Will Smith became enraged and slammed Chris Rock on the stage after he appeared to make a crude joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

While the winners should have been the focus of the Academy Awards, Smith and Chris’s surprise on-stage confrontation became the event’s focus.

What followed was a barrage of social media shaming. While some supported Smith, others believed that violence was not the solution to the problem. While outraged fans flocked to Twitter to vent their frustrations, it turns out they had been tagging the wrong Will Smith all along.

Several Twitter users tagged “Will Smith,” a podcaster and video game producer with a verified account, and requested him to apologise to Chris Rock for his behaviour.

After slapping Chris Rock at the Oscar live event, Will Smith’s namesake had to deal with social media backlash. While he initially went along with it, he later clarified, He also expressed his thoughts on the whole ordeal. Saying, “I’m not the person you’re upset/happy with.”

Will Smith’s namesake tweeted, “Real talk, I’m not the person you’re upset/happy with. I make podcasts and video games for a living. At the risk of making people pissed off at me instead of that other guy, the world would be a better place if we stopped answering words with violence (sic).”

Chris Rock said during the 2022 Oscars that Jada Pinkett Smith looked like GI Jane 2.

Will Smith scolded him and told him not to use his wife’s name (Jada). Not only the celebrities in attendance were taken aback by the events, but so were the audience members.

Meanwhile, Will Smith won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Portrayal for his role in King Richard at the 2022 Academy Awards. During his winning speech, the actor became emotional and sobbed.
