Three new hosts have been unveiled for “Saturday Night Live,” as well as musical guests who will appear on the sketch comedy show in April.
According to NBC, Jerrod Carmichael, a comedian, actor, writer, and producer, will host his debut “SNL” episode on April 2, one night after his new comedy special “Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel” premieres on HBO.
The HBO special will be the comedian’s third stand-up performance, after “Jerrod Carmichael: Love at the Store” in 2014 and “8” in 2018, both of which aired on the subscription cable channel.
Carmichael has been associated with NBC since 2015 when he was the executive producer and star of “The Carmichael Show,” which aired on the network for three seasons until 2017.
Gunna, a first-time musical guest, will join Carmichael onstage. The rapper, singer, and songwriter’s third album, “DS4Ever,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 list in January 2022, according to a statement from the network.
Jake Gyllenhaal, the actor, will host “SNL” for the second time on April 9. Since January 2007, when the celebrity initially emceed the show, it has been slightly over 15 years.
Gyllenhaal will be celebrating the opening of his new action film “Ambulance,” which will be in theaters on April 8.
Along with Gyllenhaal, musical guest, Camila Cabello will make her second visit on “SNL.” The Grammy-nominated musician first performed at the event in October 2019, which was hosted by David Harbour of “Stranger Things.”
Cabello’s new album, “Familia,” will be released on April 8th, the day before her appearance on “SNL.”
Finally, multitalented musician Lizzo will make her “SNL” hosting debut on April 16, as well as her second performance on the “SNL” music stage, according to NBC. Lizzo’s first appearance on the show occurred in December 2019, when Eddie Murphy, a veteran of “SNL,” hosted.
