STAR Hobson’s evil mother will be imprisoned for four years longer after top judges increased her sentence today.
Frankie Smith, 20, was imprisoned for eight years for causing or allowing her 16-month-old daughter to die at the hands of her sick lover.
The Attorney General’s Office referred her sentence to the Court of Appeal under the overly lenient scheme.
Following public outrage, top judges have decided to increase the prison term to 12 years.
The maximum sentence for the crime is 14 years in prison.
Savannah Brockhill, Smith’s partner in the murder of Star, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 25 years, but her sentence was not deemed too lenient.
“The circumstances of Star’s treatment at the hands of both of them over a long period of time are harrowing and deeply disturbing,” said Dame Victoria Sharp, President of the Queen’s Bench Division.
In the months leading up to her death, she claimed Smith displayed a “consistent pattern of cruelty” toward Star.
The judge also stated that the offence was aggravated by Smith’s failure to seek medical help for Star and the “prolonged suffering” she endured.
Attorney General Suella Braverman QC said after the verdict, “This is a tragic and extremely upsetting case, and my thoughts are with all those who loved Star Hobson.”
“This case involved prolonged cruelty and neglect, deliberate disregard, and a failure to take any steps to protect or seek assistance for her before and after her murder.
“No sentence can reverse this tragedy, but I welcome the decision to reflect the gravity of this offending by increasing the sentence today.”
After a campaign of brutal emotional and physical abuse against the tot, Brockhill stomped him to death.
Star’s heartbroken family slammed the “staggeringly soft sentences” as she was jailed.
Frank, Smith’s 68-year-old grandfather, previously told The Sun: “Is that all there is to Star’s life? Frankie will be released in four years — how is that fair?
“She witnessed her child’s death. She lied numerous times to cover her and Brockhill’s tracks. They both deserve to spend the rest of their lives in prison. It’s revolting.”
Star’s death, which occurred just weeks after the horrific murder of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, has prompted a safeguarding practise review.
The killers of the boy are also facing longer prison sentences after their sentences were referred to the Court of Appeal.
CHILLING
There were five chances to save Star, in a chilling echo of the six-year-death, old’s but the family’s concerns were ignored by social workers and police.
During the lengthy trial, jurors were subjected to harrowing footage of Star, who appeared bruised with a swollen cheek and marks on her forehead.
They also saw video of pub bouncer Brockhill punching and slapping Star 21 times in three hours with “considerable force.”
The brutal assault occurred in her car, with the forceful blows causing Star to fall out at one point.
As both women forced her to walk, the crying toddler could be seen painfully climbing a flight of stairs while suffering from a broken shin.
Star was filmed falling from her high chair and hitting the floor as music played over the top in another “disturbing and bizarre” clip.
The monster couple also kidnapped a young girl who was so exhausted she fell asleep in a bowl of food.
TRAGIC END
Last September 22nd, paramedics arrived at the house to find Star lifeless, pale, and wearing only a nappy.
Star was in cardiac arrest, and as CPR was being administered, she vomited “large amounts” of brown material.
Police have released audio of Brockhill’s haunting 999 call, which was made a staggering 15 minutes after she battered Star.
She claims she was making coffee in the kitchen when she heard a “bang” from the living room, where Star was playing with three other children.
When asked what caused the bang, the monster claims she doesn’t know if Star “fell off the sofa” or if the horror occurred while she was playing.
