Not only will the Queen miss today’s Commonwealth Day service, but so will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The ceremony is usually packed with royals, and in 2019 and 2020, both Harry and Meghan attended services to commemorate the major day in the royal calendar.
In reality, the 2020 event was their final royal engagement before departing as senior royals to start new lives in North America.

They attended the service alongside the Queen, Prince William, and the Duchess of Cambridge, and many people commented on the tension amongst the members of the royal family.
According to a book, Harry appeared to be “fighting back tears” after what they took to be a “snub.”
2,000 orders of service were circulated before to the ceremony, stating that William and Kate would enter the Abbey with the rest of the royal party.
The Daily Mail reported that Harry and Meghan were “very sensitive and upset about it,” thus there was no mention of them participating in the procession.
