The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Commonwealth Day Service in 2020, together with the rest of the Royal Family, in their final royal appearance before Brexit. The pair had declared just weeks before the ceremony that they would be leaving the UK and leaving the Firm.
Meghan Markle wore a beautiful green gown with a matching cape to the service at Westminster Abbey, which is regarded to be a highlight in the Royal Family’s calendar.
As the Duchess left the Abbey, her dress, designed by Emilia Wickstead, began to blow in the wind.
Christine Ross, the editor of Meghan’s Mirror, claimed Ms Markle wore the gown to communicate a hidden message about a “complex” relationship she was in.
Ms Ross suggested on the Mirror’s royal podcast ‘Pod Save the Queen’ that the clothing choice was a clear signal to the designer.
