ECP asks parliamentarians to submit assets’ details by midnight

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reminded the members of parliament and members of the provincial assemblies to submit the details of their assets by midnight tonight.

According to the sources, the offices of supreme electoral body of the country will remain open till 12 a.m. to facilitate the lawmakers.

Spokesperson of ECP said that the date for submitting assets’ details will not be further extended.

Earlier on December 4, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had asked the parliamentarians and members of the provincial assemblies to submit their assets’ details by December 31.

ECP summons Bilawal today to explain contradictions in his tax returns

Earlier, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) summoned Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari today.

ECP summoned Bilawal to explain the contradictions in the value of his assets and tax returns.

According to a notification issued earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to appear before the commission on January 14 (today).

The ECP has asked the PPP leader to either appear personally or through his lawyer to explain why he did not submit the ‘correct details’ in his income tax returns.

The commission had earlier written a number of letters to Bilawal on the same matter.

Under Section 137 of the Elections Act, 2017, its mandatory for parliamentarians to submit yearly statements of the assets.
