Sindh Cabinet on Friday approved amendments to Sindh Local Government Act 2013 with certain changes advised by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, announced provincial government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab.
“Sindh Cabinet has today approved amendments to SLGA 2013 with certain changes advised by governor Sindh,” tweeted Wahab after the cabinet meeting.

The spokesperson, who also holds the charge of Karachi administrator, said that the provincial cabinet has also decided to appoint the mayor of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation as chairman of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board for Karachi and Co-Chairman of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board.

The amendments will also allow the Sindh local councils to have a “reserved seat quota” of 1 per cent “each for differently-abled people and transgenders”.

Another important decision taken by the cabinet is of approving the amendment to Sindh Civil Courts Ordinance 1962.

Now the “pecuniary jurisdiction” of the city court in Karachi has been increased from Rs 15 million to Rs 65 million.
