CEO of Better.com; Vishal Garg faced severe criticism after he reportedly fired 900 of his employees on a Zoom call.

“I come to you with not great news,” said Garg in the starting of his video call made last week. If you are on this call, you are part of the unlucky group that is being laid off. Your employment with us is terminated effective immediately, he continued.

This termination created a mass hysteria and the recording of the call is widely circulating on social media with people from all professions questioning the decision.

Relaying to the changes in the market, and blaming efficiency and productivity as the main cause behind the mass termination he said. “The market has changed and we have to move with it in order to survive and strive.”

The 43 year old concluded by saying, “Ultimately it was my decision and I wanted you to hear it from me.”
