PDM announces long march on March 23

Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) on Monday announced that it would stage a long march against the incumbent government on March 23 in Islamabad to protest against inflation in the country.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the president of PDM while talking to media in Chak Shahzad said that general public across Pakistan would come to Islamabad to participate in the demonstration.

He said the leadership of all political parties part of PDM participated in the meeting.

Fazl said the government is incompetent which has also no support from the public, adding that the PDM has decided to hold the march in Islamabad on the issue of inflation.

He said the strategy would be made on provincial levels to hold this march. For this purpose, he said, Shehbaz Sharif in Punjab, he himself in KPK, Mehmood Khan Achakzai in Balochistan and Shah Ahmad Noorani in Sindh would call meetings of PDM.

“I will myself hold meetings with the representatives of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Pakistan Bar Council in this connection,” he stated during the press conference.

He said a major consultative seminar would also be organised with the representatives of civil society and other communities.

“The issue of submitting resignations from the assemblies also came into consideration during the PDM meeting. We will decide on our own as to what time this card should be used,” he said.
