ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated that the implementation and operationalisation of the projects related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was the top priority of the government.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review progress on CPEC projects in Islamabad, the premier said that timelines specified for completion of the projects should be adhered to, said Radio Pakistan.

He said the government was fully committed to the provisions of the agreements under the umbrella of multi-billion dollar CPEC projects.
The premier also underscored that continuity of policies was essential for long-term projects to achieve maximum benefits for the country.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on CPEC Affairs Khalid Mansoor also briefed the meeting about the updated status of CPEC projects.
CPEC is a central part of the Belt and Road Initiative, under which Beijing has pledged over $60 billion for infrastructure projects in Pakistan, much of it in the form of loans.
Earlier in September this year, PM Imran had vowed to accelerate the pace of work on projects being executed under the CPEC.

The premier had pointed out that the breakout of Covid-19 created some hurdles including disruption of supply chains which increased prices of essential commodities. But, he remained confident that as the situation was improving, progress would again be visible on the CPEC related projects, as well as, bringing down the inflation.
