President Dr Arif Alvi agreed to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Islamabad and Ankara during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Both the leaders on Monday concurred to further strengthen the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to achieve its objectives.

President Alvi and Erdogan also underlined the need for collective efforts of the region, particularly of the Islamic countries, to stop Islamophobia.
There was a need to work together to tackle the challenges faced by the region, said President Alvi. He also thanked his Turkish counterpart for Ankara’s principled stance on the issue of Kashmir.
Later in the day, President Alvi also held a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and exchanged views on bilateral ties, trade and economic cooperation.

During the meeting, President Alvi underscored the need for increasing political contacts between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
