The large fan base was taken aback when they discovered that Tom and Jerry are just nicknames and that their real names are different.

Tom the innocent cat’s real name is ‘Thomas Jasper Cat,’ while Jerry the wicked and fun mouse’s real name is ‘Gerald Jinx Mouse,’ according to the show.
