Sitar & tabla maestros Ustad Abdul Sattar Tari & Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan perform at PNCA

The country’s love for traditional instruments continues to live on, decade after decade. To celebrate the likes of table and sitar fans, the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA,) organized a musical evening to remember called “Saaz Samandar.” The musical evening was graced by two of the biggest musical maestros, tabla player Ustad Abdul Sattar Tari and sitar master Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan.

Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan is the son of the legendary sitar master Ustad Muhammad Sharif Khan Poonch Wala. He plays the sitar just as well as his father and grandfather.

Great Tabla player Ustad Abdul Sattar Khan Tari, hails from a Punjab gharana of Tabla players. Tari started his career by accompanying great singers like Mehdi Hassan Ghulam Ali, Pandit Jasraj, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Roshan Ara Begum before training under Mehdi Hassan.

The musical maestros were greeted by Hassan Raza Saeed (DG,) who had invited the two to perform. He also said that the two musical geniuses were the pride of Pakistan. The performances were spellbinding and gathered multiple rounds of applause by the audience.
