According to XDA, Google has launched a surprise mid-month update for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices, which is expressly meant to improve the fingerprint scanner’s functionality.

The new model’s position of that sensor has been a source of annoyance for users due to its sluggish and finicky operation.

Users have complained about the sensor’s poor and finicky functionality.

According to Android Police, the fingerprint scanner is not only sluggish, but it also fails to recognize fingerprints on occasion, allowing phones to be unlocked with someone else’s fingers.

At the time, Google justified the issue, claiming that the slower performance was due to “enhanced security algorithms” that required longer to authenticate identities.

According to several Reddit users, the update improves the scanner’s consistency, resulting in fewer failures, especially if you wear a screen protector.

According to numerous users, it’s still slower than certain models with comparable under-screen fingerprint scanners, like the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The update is available in two versions for Verizon-specific and worldwide models; they should start rolling out to your handset soon, or you can get them straight from Google.
