Google was rumoured to be launching a foldable Pixel smartphone before the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022, but the latest report claims that the idea has been dropped entirely by the company.
According to Ross Young, a display supply chain consultant, Google has dropped its plan of releasing foldable Pixel, who earlier stated that Google would release a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 competition by the end of the year.
Young stated that “DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultant) has confirmed with its supply chain sources that Google has decided not to bring the Pixel Fold to market. Not in 2021 and reportedly not in the first half of 2022.”
The Pixel fold was expected to cost more than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, giving the Pixel stiff competition in the market. Google launched Android 12L recently for larger screens and foldable phones.
There are also rumours that the Pixel Fold’s camera features will be the same as the Pixel 5. For the time being, Google has not confirmed anything officially, so there’s still some hope left for the Pixel Fold.
