ISLAMABAD: PPP leader Shazia Marri on Monday called the government’s move of placing former Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL) a ‘shameful’ act.
In a press release, while condemning the move, Marri said Shah is a “senior politician and a respectable” person.
PPP’s central information secretary alleged that a “dual system of accountability” was prevailing in the country. She further claimed that it is mostly the opposition leaders that are being politically victimised at the behest of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government.
“The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) often comes in the unrest whenever Imran Khan faces troubles,” said Marri. She said that the time has come for PM Imran to “panic”, adding that this time NAB will also be unable to “save him”.
“Now the time has come that everyone would be held accountable for their bad wrong doings and corruption cases,” said the PPP leader.
Last week, the federal government placed the names of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and Qaim Ali Shah on the ECL.
According to sources, the approval of the inclusion of Shahbaz Sharif and Qaim Ali Shah’s names in the no-fly list was given via a circulation summary.
The former Sindh chief minister is facing charges of corruption in the Roshan Sindh project while Shehbaz has been accused of money laundering and owning assets beyond means.
