KARACHI: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has reconstituted the Advisory Committee (South) for the year 2021, a statement said on Wednesday.

Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr Asif Jah will chair the committee.

Other members of the Advisory Committee included the presidents of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI); Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI South); and chief executive of the Karachi Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KWCCI East).

Similarly, presidents of the American Business Council of Pakistan; Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry, chairmen of the Air Cargo Agents Association of Pakistan, All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchants will also be part of the committee as members.

According to the announcement, chairmen of the Pakistan Customs Agents Association; All Pakistan Shipping Association; Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association; Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association; Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association; and the president of the Karachi Tax Bar Association are also appointed as the members of the Advisory Committee.

The FTO also appointed presidents of the Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry; Pak-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the president of the Chaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the committee.

The committee also consists of chairmen of Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association; Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants’ Association; and Pakistan Waste Products Association as members.

The committee also selected individuals from various organisations as members of the committee, including Adnan Mufti, chartered accountant, senior reporter of Business Recorder Muhammad Ali, Asif Haroon FCA, BOL News senior staff correspondent Shahnawaz Akhter and 24 News senior correspondent Ashraf Khan.

Asif Inam, chairman of the Aptma (South Zone); (chief IR-Policy) FBR, chief (ST–Operations) IR, FBR; chief (Tariff) Customs, FBR; Customs advisers Shahid Ahmad and Manzoor Hussain Memom; FTO Secretariat adviser Badruddin Ahmed Qureshi, former justice Muhammad Nadir Khan, adviser in-charge; and Manzoor Hussain Kureshi, adviser in-charge, will also be part of the advisory committee.
