The former princess of Japan addresses the growing similarities between her and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex of the United Kingdom.

The topic arose while princess Mako was speaking during an official press conference.

There she was quoted saying, “As for the comparison, I don’t have any particular thoughts. I would like to refrain from answering any questions about my future personal life.”

At the end of the day, “What I would like is just to lead a peaceful life in my new environment. I am not considering giving any interviews at the moment.”

Mako Komuro, formerly Princess Mako of Akishino, is the first child and elder daughter of Prince Fumihito and Princess Kiko, and a former member of the Japanese imperial family. She is the niece of Emperor Naruhito and is the eldest grandchild of Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko.
