Nation prays for Arshad Nadeem ahead of javelin throw final

Athletes, politicians and fans have extended their wishes for Arshad Nadeem ahead of the men’s javelin throw final in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The 24-year-old qualified for the final with a throw of 85.16m and will be competing against 11 other athletes, including India’s Neeraj Chopra and Germany’s Johannes Vetter.

The ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s official Twitter account posted a video of the javelin thrower and extended its wishes for the Khanewal-born.

Pakistan cricket team’s skipper Babar Azam also wished luck to the local hero.

Left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz hoped that Nadeem will win a gold medal for Pakistan.

Federal Minister for information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry is also rooting for Nadeem.

A fan tweeted that she has been praying for Nadeem’s victory since last night and yearned that the javelin thrower would end Pakistan’s 29 years old Olympic medal drought.

Some claimed that it does not matter if he wins or not, he has already made the nation proud, though winning one would be the icing on the cake.

The final of the javelin throw event will take place at 1600hrs PST today in the Olympic Stadium Tokyo.
