Jeffrey Toobin steps away from CNN after his bawdy mess on Zoom call

Jeffrey Toobin steps away from CNN

Commentator Jeffrey Toobin steps away from CNN after being sacked by the magazine ‘New Yorker’ as he exposed himself on a staff Zoom call.

Jeffry Toobin is a senior analyst for CNN. He confirmed in his tweet that he has been fired.

“I was fired today by @NewYorker after 27 years as a Staff Writer. I will always love the magazine, will miss my colleagues, and will look forward to reading their work,” he wrote.

The New Yorker wrote in an email to staff: “I want to assure everyone that we take workplace matters seriously.”

According to the initial story, the senior colleagues had seen Mr Toobin doing some bawdy acts while apparently on a separate video call.

After his suspension, Toobin said he had believed himself to be off-camera during the incident.

The obscene incident took place on October 15 and Toobin was immediately suspended.

In a statement to a Canadian magazine last month, he said: “I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera.”

He also apologized to his family, friends and colleagues.

“I believed I was not visible on Zoom,” he told. “I thought no-one on the Zoom call could see me. Thought I had muted the Zoom video.”

According to sources, during a break in proceedings, Mr Toobin appeared to be on a different video call but was seen moments later on camera performing indecently.
