The two-week-long joint counter-terrorism exercise DRUZHBA-V of Pakistan and Russian Federation Special Forces is underway at Tarbela.
According to the Spokesperson Pakistan Armed Forces, Major General Babar Iftikhar Pakistan – Russian Federation Special Forces joint exercise DRUZHBA-V underway at Tarbela.
DG ISPR added that the participating troops busy practicing Counter-Terrorism drills and procedures, rappelling and preparations for sky diving. Sports activities are also part of the exercise.

Earlier the National anthems of both countries were played at the start of the ceremony, he added.
The ceremony was attended by the Russian ambassador to Pakistan, Danila Ganich. Senior officials from both the armies were also present on the occasion.
The Russian special forces had arrived in Pakistan for a two-week-long military training aimed at sharing the experiences of both the armies in the counter-terrorism domain.

Explaining the purpose behind the foreign team’s visit, the ISPR said sky diving and hostage rescue operations would be the highlights of Druzhba V.
The first-ever joint exercise between Islamabad and Moscow took place in 2016. Then in 2017, the second DRUZHBA exercise was held in Russia and the third in Pakistan. The fourth DRUZHBA Pak-Russia joint military exercise was held in Russia in 2019.
While in September, a contingent of the Pakistan armed forces participated in the opening ceremony of a multinational military exercise, named Kavkaz-2020, held in Russia’s Astrakhan.
