Pakistani music legend, songwriter, and founder of the iconic band Strings, Faisal Kapadia, recently revealed a personal family secret that will leave everyone stunned.
Faisal, who alongside Bilal Maqsood revolutionized Pakistani pop and rock music from 1989 to 2021, opened up in an exclusive interview with City 1016 in Dubai, shedding light on his connection to Bollywood star Dimple Kapadia.

In a candid moment, Faisal shared, “Dimple Kapadia is actually my niece. Her late father, Chunni Bhai Kapadia, was my cousin. He had visited Pakistan in 1984 for a cousin’s wedding, where I sang. He promised me that he would take me to Bollywood one day, but sadly, he passed away before he could fulfill that promise.”
The revelation carried a deep sense of longing and missed opportunities, yet fate had other plans for Faisal. What was once a promise unkept, was eventually fulfilled through his own musical journey.
Faisal’s Bollywood dreams came true when he recorded unforgettable hits like “Yeh Meri Hai Kahani” and “Spider-Man,” bringing his late cousin’s promise to life and leaving a mark on the Indian music industry.
During the interview, Faisal also performed a heartfelt monologue for his fans, receiving a standing ovation from the audience.
With his ever-growing legacy, Faisal is now focusing on his solo music career, with his recent song “Phir Milenge” becoming an instant hit among fans.
He has also been part of Coke Studio multiple times, further solidifying his status as a musical icon.
This story is one of passion, fate, and the unbreakable bonds of family, showing how an artist’s journey can shape not just their career but their destiny as well.
Faisal Kapadia’s tale of fulfillment, tragedy, and triumph is nothing short of cinematic itself.
