WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met at the White House to discuss a possible peace agreement for Gaza. Officials say the deal could be a historic step toward lasting peace in the region.

According to sources, the proposed agreement includes several key points. The most important is the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. A temporary “National Authority” would be set up to manage the region, with France leading the effort in its first phase.

The United Nations Security Council would nominate officials to oversee the authority, ensuring peace, transparency, and protection of human rights. Islamic and Arab countries, along with international forces, would take joint control of Gaza’s security to prevent new violence.

The plan also outlines that the National Authority will later gain full institutional powers with the help of the UN and global partners.

The meeting comes at a time when Israel recently apologized to Qatar for an attack in Doha and faces growing criticism over its regional policies. If finalized, the agreement would mark Israel’s first major step toward pulling its troops out of Gaza in many years.
